Intern and Volunteer With Us

Whether you’re looking for hands on experience, want to receive college credits or volunteer, About me wellness needs your help.

Internships are the most effective way to gain work experience before graduation.
Student interns are a valuable benefit to About Me Wellness as well as to the students. The value of having interns is immense.  Having an intern work with those that are less fortunate and obese will untimely improve and lower the cost of patient care.  Having practical hands on experience allows the interns to perfect the requisite skills needed for success. Student interns bring a unique, innovative, nontraditional educational approach based on direct hands on learning.   Internships take students out in the community where they will get the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom.  Volunteering as a wellness coach through an internship program will provide the coach students with real time coach training.  Merritt (2008), articulates it best, internships are the training and experience component of a curriculum.  They are career-oriented with practical application. |

As an intern you will address the high demands of wellness coaches, bring fresh ideas, and valuable professional experience to About Me Wellness.  Once you have been approved as an intern coach you will be added to our coach network. You will then be matched with a coach mentor and a client according to your coaching niche or interests.
You may coach up to 2 clients at a time based upon your desire and availability. You will be provided your client's contact information and a copy of a completed wellness packet your client has already prepared before your first session. A wellness packet will be provided to you once they sign up. The wellness packet provides a planned tool that allows your client to make the most effective use of their 8-weeks with you. The packet helps the client to narrow down their needs to one or two specific goals they would like to achieve during the eight weeks. Each week you will meet with your client, typically by telephone for approximately one hour sessions.  You will encourage, support and hold the client accountable for fulfilling the goals they have set in their wellness packet. You will need to maintain a weekly progress report of your sessions and submit it to your assigned mentor coach each week
